The room we reserved at CEF has a maximum capacity of 85 people. There are about 15 openings still available if you would like to attend. We will accept reservations on a first come, first serve basis. Due to the limited space, we will not be able to accommodate people who do not RSVP by the 11/24/2008 deadline. The following subjects will be discussed, time permitting: Topic 1: Texas Fire Marshall’s Office Update on Licensing And Law ChangesMark Redlitz with the State Fire Marshall’s Office to discuss hot topics regarding fire protection in the state. Topic 2: Sprinkler and Fire Alarm Submittals· Current codes in effect for sprinkler and fire alarm · Discuss any “key” amendments you have in your jurisdiction. · Major denial issues. · Different types of permits. · Brief overview of the inspection process. Topic 3: Plan Denial Resolution· Policies for resolution of plan denial comments. · Differences of professional opinion · Performance-based alternatives to code requirements. Topic 4: General Building and Fire Code-Related Topics· Building plan submittal process. I · Key amendments. (hose lay distances, requirements for hazardous materials inventory statements, life safety plans, special requirements for high-rise buildings, schools, etc.) · Major denial issues you see on plans · Hazardous materials or high-piled storage warehouses. These permits are often very specific and vary from one jurisdiction to another. · Special requirements for Water Flow, hydrant placement, or general fire protection site plan issues.
